The Botanical Survey of India (BSI), Sikkim Himalayan Regional Centre (SHRC), Gangtok has released an official recruitment notification for project staff under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) project titled “Assessment of Floristic Diversity in the Alpine High Altitude Wetland Complexes of Sikkim.”

Indian nationals with the required educational qualifications and the ability to work in high-altitude Himalayan terrain can apply for the posts of Research Associate-III (RA-III), Junior Project Fellow (JPF), and Field Assistant.

Eligible candidates must submit their CV along with supporting documents via email or by hand to the BSI-SHRC office on or before 25 March 2026. The recruitment will be purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.

  • M.Sc. in Botany with specialization in Plant Taxonomy or Ecology

Field Assistant

  • B.Sc. in Botany or Life Sciences

Desirable Experience

RA-III

  • Extensive field experience (up to 10 years) working with the Flora of Sikkim Himalaya

JPF

  • Experience in field data collection related to plant taxonomy or ecology

Field Assistant

  • Knowledge of plant collection methods, herbarium preparation, and data compilation

  • Fieldwork experience in Sikkim Himalaya
